photos: bookstore KINOKUNIYA Shinjuku Minami, Tokyo 12/09/2014 and novel of Ali Smith just came out.

It's nice, teenagers Sylvie Vartan and Francoise Hardy (Aug. 1963) on the front cover of latest novel of Ali Smith "How to be both", which is listed for the Man Booker Prize 2014. Later, in May 2015 at the same book shop, I saw many copies in smaller format and seemed more attractive.

It is one of pictures taken serially by Jean-Marie Perier as usual in the 60s. I'm happy but I love a different photo of them eating ice-cream cone "against the wind" (photo below) if I'm allowed to wish so much as a fan of Sylvie.

French photographer Jean-Marie Perier used to take so many french and international stars especially in 1960s - 1970s.
F. Hardy and Sylvie were both born in 1944, the photo is perhaps at their 19 or 20 years old. J-M Perier says Sylvie Vartan is the star he has shot most. Then, he is a good friend of both of them since their debut at the age of around 17 years old. And, it's likewise for these two stars, who were often shot together.

2014年8月22日から26日、フランス南西での Angouleme 映画祭に出席したシルヴィ・ヴァルタン。今回は、女優でもあるトニー・マーシャル監督のソフィー・マルソーと歌手で俳優のパトリック・ブリュエル主演コメディ映画 「TU VEUX OU TU VEUX PAS」 に参加し、出演シーンは少ないものの話題になっている。2014年10月1日フランス公開。
現地インタヴューは内容に厚みがある。シルヴィは美しく声も素敵だ。（写真左）　インタヴュアーの熱意や姿勢は月並み以上の言葉をスターから引き出す。シルヴィの表情や応える様子からそれが窺える。

2014年6月7日　サマーツアー初日/パリ郊外、猛暑日の野外フェスティヴァル。 衣装は ステファン・ローランド（STEPHANE ROLLAND）担当。 サイドに白いストライプの縁が付いたタイトなブルー・グレーのパンツにブルーの豪華な刺しゅうとスパンコールの輝きがある白いシルクのウエスタン調ブラウス。高いヒールの靴も格好良い。シルヴィ・ヴァルタンはエレガント。

2014年6月12日　サマーツアー2日目　ルクセンブルグ。 衣装はステファン・ローランド、黒のスーツにウエスタン調の真っ白なブラウス。シルヴィ・ヴァルタンは、比類なき魅力的な特徴の多い人だと常々思う。癖と見える仕草や全てに特別な可愛いさや優美さがある。両手を指先まで真っすぐ広げるこの綺麗なポーズもシルヴィらしい。ルクセンブルグのVIPを含む満員御礼の会場が大熱狂した。シルヴィの声・歌ともにDVD収録に値する内容だったという。

翌日6月13日、シルヴィはローリングストーンズのパリ公演（スタド・ド・フランス　7万5千人動員）を観賞。翌日6月14日の公演（上記）の中でその話に触れている。ちなみに、シルヴィは2007年アルバム "Nouvelle Vague" に彼らの "Ruby Tuesday" を収録。ミック・ジャガーはシルヴィの1977年パリ公演に来場し楽屋で歓談している。

南フランスの海岸リゾート地、バンドール。港を臨む野外会場に約5千人が集った21時45分スタートのシルヴィ・ヴァルタン2014年サマー・コンサート・ツアー最終日。市主催のフリー・コンサートで市が予想した5倍の観客を動員。ヴィデオを見ると押し掛けた群衆が入口ゲートで管理側と喧嘩腰、ゲートを超えて落ちる人まで。気温同様に熱いソワレを地方紙は伝えている。（シルヴィ・ヴァルタンの衣装はステファン・ローランド STEPHANE ROLLAND）

南フランスの海岸リゾート地、カップ・ダグド(Cap d'Agde)があるアグドでの野外（水上）公演。川岸の客席や橋に約一万人が集った21時スタートの夏の夜のスペクタクル。シルヴィ・ヴァルタンらしいシャープな動きを見せて水上で煌めいている。 終盤には小型モーターボートの上から大観衆の拍手喝采に応えた。

It is the latest french album (country-rock-pop) of Sylvie Vartan and my favorite new CD (photo: left). When I first listened to it, it finished all too soon, like an American refreshing breeze. "L'Etrangere" is the most inspiring track and I put it on repeat. Still, it's also true I'm absolutely far more fascinated when played the whole CD since it's rich and varied.

L'Etrangere, Sylvie Vartan sang this heart-moving number more simply with her thrilling husky voice later in concerts in Paris, Tokyo, Sofia and in Summer Tour 2014. That was even more marvelous and lingers in my ears. She's always more interesting to me in this way.

Sylvie Vartan, living both in America and France, is a worldwide traveler and her dynamic life is inspiring.

The CD Japanese version (photo: bottom) with 3 more numbers came out on the first day of Sylvie Vartan's concerts in Tokyo. The song lyrics of "C'est bon de vous voir" and "Nos retrouvailles" seem to symbolize her exceptional artist life.
I'm fan of her "Mr. John B." ever since her 1992 two-week Japan concert tour. The version of 1991 Palais des Sports de Paris, it's the most beautiful version ever for me and always vivid in my memory. Still, the two versions in this ablum bring me joy in a different way. Laurent Voulzy as well as the tambourine enhance the feeling of joy.




2013年10月フランス発売のシルヴィ・ヴァルタン新譜（写真上）"SYLVIE IN NASHVILLE" (仏紙LE MONDE批評）。

2014年4月16日発売の日本盤/来日記念盤（写真右） "シルヴィ・イン・ナッシュビル" はフランス版より3曲多い全16曲収録の豪華盤。その3曲とはフランス限定盤に特別収録された2曲 "C'est bon de vous voir めぐりあい" (Bad moon rising) と "Nos retrouvailles 再会" と "Mr.John B" の最新ヴァージョン（SSWローラン・ヴルズィとのデュエット最新録音）。限定盤は入手出来ず諦めていたが夢が叶った。

ロックからバラードまで一曲一曲どれも瑞々しい。"L'Etrangere" エトランジェル（邦題：よそ者）は取分け大草原の澄んだ水のように心に沁みる。後にライヴで聞いたナンバーにどれも永遠の一曲と言いたいほど感動した。シルヴィのよりシンプルな生の歌声は素敵だ。余韻が大きい。

"Mr. John B." は1992年シルヴィ・ヴァルタン来日公演（2週間全国ツアー、ロック・ポップ公演）以来のファン。レゲェ風ヴァージョンは忘れがたい。強弱の効いたリズムもシルヴィの歌もその抑えた動きも全てが生彩があって強烈な印象を残した。途轍もなく格好よくてこの世のものと思えぬほど美しかった。
今回のスタジオ録音 "Mr.John B." 　2作（アメリカ録音、フランス録音）はどちらも聴く楽しみが多い傑作。ローラン・ヴルズィ（シンガーソングライター）の優しい声やタンバリンの音などそのハーモニーが幸せな気分を倍層する。

今回、嬉しい発見があった。本作一枚を流して聴いた時のその満足感は数倍だった。アルバムの面白さや素晴らしさや価値などを初めて思い知った。

日本プレミアム盤はボーナス3曲付き。首を長くして待ったので芯からしびれた。 "C'est bon de vous voir/Bad moon rising" （めぐりあい） は過去に "画期的" 1970年パリ・オランピア劇場公演ライヴと1971年日本公演ライヴに収録されているだけだ。"Nos Retrouveilles"（再会）は、2014年パリ公演と日本公演オープニング・ナンバーだっただけに、ライヴは目の前が開けるような高揚感があった。 "めぐりあい" と "再会"　は、巡演の長旅やステージで歌う喜びや旅立ちなどを書いているため、シルヴィ・ヴァルタンの生涯と重なる。

シルヴィは、1984年6月2日にアメリカの名プロデューサー、トニー・スコッティと再婚以来、家族の住むアメリカとフランスに住む。そのため、フランスの大衆にとっては 「シルヴィ・ヴァルタンはフランスに不在」 であり、業界はシルヴィ・ヴァルタンがフランスに不在中は業界に不在であるかのような扱い。「不在」にしてしまっていると見える。

シルヴィ・ヴァルタンはショウビジネス界で稀にみる公私ともに充実した人生を歩んでいる。大きな家族を持ち、カリフォルニアでの平和な家族生活を基本とする。その上、フランスで定期的に公演を行う安定した活動ぶりなどに対して嫉妬心や反発に似た感情を持つフランス人が多いと感じる。
実際は、シルヴィは再婚前からアメリカ滞在が多い。1970年初頭から西海岸に住居を持ち、2000年台初頭までパリ公演のリハーサルも現地の振付師と行った。1970年代末までは私生活は波乱万丈である一方で公演活動に邁進した人気絶頂期である。1980年代中頃（再婚前）まで依然として高い人気を得ていた。(再婚後、1985年から1989年まで公演活動は休止している）

L'ETRANGERE - 何処かでシルヴィはこんな風に話している、 "何処に居てもエトランジェル（よそ者）だと感じる。また海外に歌いに行くと相変わらず何処か外人" 。私は、十代から公私共に世界を大きく深く旅しているシルヴィ・ヴァルタンを憧憬する。シルヴィ・ヴァルタンは冒険心と好奇心旺盛な人。
