Sylvie Vartan L'Olympia Paris 2017, for just two days? Now that's so short a period. Why not fire, inspire us once AGAIN in the FIRST place by the prospect of much longer longer days (say, seven days at least), instead of every time announcing unique or two-day Paris concert for the last six years. It's a mystery for me. Where in the world is the production's drive?
Today, we see little fervor, spirit or determination of her production. Then, how can they stir a large audience's great fervor? In view of such an awesome active long career of Sylvie Vartan, a rock singer with that husky voice - thrilling, beaming, wild, warm, graceful - and lots of dynamism and innate grace, who's always released albums and presented new LIVE concerts in Paris and then spent on the road worldwide ever since early 1960s, it's high time to absolutely let us marvel again at this adventurous and joyous Sylvie Vartan's best, tapping her potential. She never stops going on farther, keeping the same innate charm.
Her performance makes me happiest, marvelous "Sylvie Vartan In Person."
Sylvie Vartan A L'Olympia Paris 2017 is consisted of two (2) parts: 1st part dedicated to 1960s-1970s and 2nd part to 1980s-the present called "Forever Sylvie."
"Sylvie Vartan in Tokyo 2018" - I'm crossing my fingers that it will be absolutely at a traditional large concert hall, as she used to be until 2008; I wanna fully see and hear again the real Sylvie Vartan, her real strengths, what she is! I know I'm not the only one who's dreaming such reunion, hopefully at Orchard Hall, Shibuya, Tokyo.
I do hope she is ready to sing high notes (falsetto) as before in terms of "Irresistiblement," the dynamic hit tune of 1970 in Japan, for it is an ever-popular song especially since 2002 beyond generations. It would be perfectly fresh. Sylvie Vartan must have such an extraordinary ability besides limitless fascinatoin and capacity.
Recalling Sylvie Vartan in Tokyo 2008 (*) at Orchard Hall, of which set list included "Dans le souffle du vent" (cover of "Browin' In the Wind" in French). It struck my heart deeply. Sylvie sang with sad eyes sometimes during the concert since it was after her mother's demise (in the previous summer 2007), still her voice was truly richer than ever and singing soulful. We do see Sylvie Vartan's true worth in this way. I can just see in my mind's eye all the sublime scene where she sang this song (almost a cappella) in many shafts of blue light, as if she were singing in the rain or in the quiet forest or on the wide spread of prairie. Such a moving and vibrant Live Sylvie Vartan in Tokyo 2008.

"Sylvie Vartan : Je suis une diaspora bulgare toujours entre deux avions."
It's not just another interview but a fresh and good interview to read. In the end, off the subject, Sylvie Vartan even says something humorous and witty revealing she likes "une tarte au citron" (lemon meringue pie), which she would like to have right away.
9月7日フランス発売の新刊（上の写真： ディスコグラフィ）やパリ・オランピ劇場公演（9月15日と16日）を控えたシルヴィ・ヴァルタン。家族の居るロサンゼルスとパリに住む彼女との、パリでの月並みではない独占インタヴュー。シルヴィの滋味深い言葉が心に響く。（理解したくて拙いながら訳してみました、以下はその抜粋）
- いかにして飽きることなく繰り返し歌に臨むのか。
「画家に同じことを聞きますか? 大事なのは、常に新たに取り組むこと。これまで1200曲以上録音してきて、一つ一つどれも同様の気難しさをもって高水準の出来を求めてきました」「今年9月の公演は2部構成。前半のテーマは私のデビュー時代からロックンロールの到来まで、後半は80年代から現在を取り上げます」
- 選曲について。
「深く考えたりせず、強く惹かれるものを選びます。新曲はどれも私のディスコグラフィの最優先。好みは後で、時の流れと共に定まってくる」
- 生活の最優先は ? 歌手、女性、妻、母... ?
「分けて考えたことは一度もありません。その役割全てが第一です。一つが残り全体の産物で、その逆もまた同様。一人の女性であることは歌手の中にあり、歌手は女性なのです。それはただ場所や状況の問題」
- 年齢は重要か。
「それは私たちを明確に示す（定義する）ものです。経験を通してようやく上手くやっていけるのです」
- 高齢化社会となり病気が増加していることについて。
「家族と一緒ではなく一人で生活しているお年寄りの方が病気がちです。両親や祖父母を愛することです。体力的・時間的・経済的に厳しいなど色々な状況は当然あるだろうが、放置だけはしないこと」「1980年代はじめになって、年齢だけで若者を賛美するようになった。生きるとは老いること、老いるとは死にゆくこと、それは皆が直面することなのですが」
- 「一語一語」(2012年刊行のシルヴィ・ヴァルタン自著）の中で「愛」について話していましたね。
「そう、子供や両親や好きな人たちへの愛です。時が経つにつれて私の両親そして彼らの行いや愛情について考えられるようになりました。笑わずに生きられても愛なしには生きられない。愛する事や愛される事で心の傷や怪我からでさえ回復しやすいのです。」
余談だが、終盤で得た貴重なニュースは： シルヴィ・ヴァルタンは、メレンゲ・レモンパイが好き！

In the 1970s, she often did that for one month in Japant - throughout the whole land -, too. Sylvie Vartan, an explorer, an adventurous all-time star.

2017年9月15、16日に行われたシルヴィ・ヴァルタン・パリ・オランピア劇場公演。
シルヴィは、17歳を迎える1961年の初夏に、ジャズ音楽家でRCA音楽プロデューサーだった兄エディ・ヴァルタンのレコード録音に偶然に巻き込まれてレコード・デビュー。同年12月シルヴィの初舞台（ジルベール・ベコーの前座）となったのがこの老舗劇場。そして1967年の初公演も同劇場にて。フランスのファンにとっても特に馴染み深いコンサートホール。
Paris Match パリマッチ誌が翌朝にインターネット配信した初日の批評通りシルヴィ・ヴァルタンは常に新譜を中心とした公演を好むが、今年は節目でもあり、デビューから現在までを網羅したセットリストで2部構成（約40曲）。ミュージシャン9名とコーラス3名を伴い、幕間30分を含めて夜8時半から12時近くまで続く3時間公演。 衣装はLanvin（アーティスティック・ディレクターのオリヴィエ・ラピドス）。ポップでシックな白と黒のタキシード2着が久しぶりに斬新で目を引く。（何と、シルヴィの1961年の本劇場初舞台の白い衣装は彼の父親が作ったと言う。）
終盤の2曲は、1979年のオリジナル・アルバム（全曲英語）収録の熱狂的な "I Don't want the Night to End" （アメリカンナイト）、ファイナルは "Cheveux au vent" （髪をなびかせて）（ボブ・シーガー "Against the wind" のカバー）は2013年録音アルバム「Sylvie In Nashville」から。今年のライヴ・ヴァージョンは煌めく。まさに「素敵なヴァルタン」。
シルヴィ・ヴァルタンは来年、2018年は日本公演の可能性がある。本国フランスでは新譜発売予定がある。2010年アルバムに精力的に参加したシンガーソングライターのケレン・アンも曲を提供。また、カーラ・ブルーニの名も挙がっている。
AFPの9月初旬のインタヴュー記事によると、シルヴィ・ヴァルタンは、引退どころか、今この瞬間をより大事にして将来を夢見ているそうだ。シルヴィは、本公演のラスト・ナンバー 「Cheveux au vent」(「Against the wind」) を歌う前に同じ事を言っている。ボブ・シーガーのフランス語カバーで締めくくった意味はそこにあると見える。風に向かって進む「バルタン気質」。シルヴィ・ヴァルタンは、格好良い。
