JE TIRE MA REVERENCE, Sylvie Vartan's official announcement. Naturally an unimaginable sadness for many fans of Sylvie Vartan around the world, especially for those who had experienced her concert, her forte, even though we all know her exceptional non-stop career spanning over 6 decades and her 80th birthday this Summer. Exceptional in personality too. We truly realize nothing lasts forever. Tears rolled down my face in spite of myself. (Thanks to remote work, I could go through the day.)Sylvie Vartan - a born graceful elegance - had given numerous dynamic creative concerts characterized by overwhelming energy, intensity, lightness, humor, warmth and all that. Too many adjectives and adverbs I use here but Sylvie Vartan is never easy. This formidable concert live performer and glamorous person. It's indescribable.
Of course, this ultimate concert is improbable, far more than a bittersweet news. The self-possessed, powerful star on another level uncommonly enjoys good health - no wonder, she was born extra healthy and has always been that way having extraordinary physical strength too - and still has a voice.
However, Sylvie Vartan gets older - we all do and are mortal too. She has her own life. In the end, we absolutely wish her well. Fortunately she will not quit in terms of recording new album.
We always dreamt Sylvie in person on stage. Performance of Sylvie Vartan was stunningly perfect; her personality touching. What an experience it was. Her life has a profound impact on us.

At least Sylvie Vartan won't say to her audience ses adieux or something sad in November 2024. Actually, I will not be the only one who is wanting A NEW ORIGINAL ALBUM of Sylvie Vartan in the near future if Sylvie amazingly continues to have voice. Please do stay safe and healthy, Sylvie!
Paul McCartney alone comes to my mind, maybe because people often speak of Sylvie and The Beatles at L'Olympia Paris 1964 (3-week concert of international rising stars in Jan-Feb. A few days later, The Beatles flew to US for the 1st time ). They were co-starred on stage in the early years of their career; each of them has a scintillating life.
Also she used to have impressive songwriters/composers especially in the 1960s/1970s such as Jean Renard, the late Gilles Thibault, Micky Jones...

Sylvie Vartan and Tony Scotti in Los Angeles (their residence), a beautiful pleasant couple for a long time. This June 2nd was the 40th anniversary of their marriage. They met in Tokyo in March 1981 at a grand International music festival and were married in 1984 in LA. It is impossible for us to think of one without the other.

– NHK, JAPANESE SOLE PUBLIC BROADCASTER
Sylvie Vartan in mid-1960s was featured in NHK Educational TV’s special program consisted of several parts called “History of the World subculture” - people's desires, Idole ed. (22:30-23:00) . They indicated that the word "idole" started to be used in Japan in the same period as Sylvie Vartan made a splash, showing magazine articles back then and a well-known 1965 TVCM for an apparel RENOWN for which Sylvie (age 20) was used. We could also watch Sylvie in NHK’s December 2001 program "French stars who fascinated Japanese people," in which she was recalling and smiling over the Japanese commercial filmed during her 1st two-week Japan concert tour in May 1965.
An American professor (of Media/Cultural/Information studies at the University of Tokyo) analyzed the popularity of Sylvie pointing out that she might have inspired the anime heroine with an innocent look (and bob hairstyle) in a successful 1979 film of Hayao Miyazaki (A co-founder of Studio Ghibli).

Sneakers are always her favorite since early 1960s, such as Adidas suede red-color sneaker she bought in America (NYC ?) in 1963, the year of a legendary recording of her album SYLVIE A NASHVILLE at the RCA Nashville at age 19.
An anecdote about shoes in her Japan tour 2008. Sylvie was invited to a TV program and a well-known host gave her an unexpected gift : Yellow basketball shoes!!
