Sylvie Vartan goes on a tour in France including Geneve, Switzerland (10/28) this year too from Sept to Nov 2022. In Nov, five performances (Nov. 6, 18, 25, 26, 27). Sylvie Le Recital, acoustic live with only four exclusive musicians (pianist, cellist, guitalist, chorus), the same as in 2021.

I do not think it enhances the impression we get today. That's unexpected of her. Sylvie Vartan now looks far better in tuxedo (le Smoking), for she has beautiful long legs.
Sylvie Vartan is no longer slim (since around 1999). What on earth happened?, I used to wonder. In any case, no one wants for her she is skinny and fragile today.
Actually, her innate elegance and graceful movement never change with age. She is always in good shape and looked simply nice in her latest Live in Tokyo 2018. No room for a second to be nostalgic for her past impeccable, breathtaking, marvelous silhouette. We even had a glimpse of the same beautiful figure in a Smoking tuxedo.
After all, she is an accomplished superb live performer on stage who is always (!) overwhelmingly energetic and fantastic. And, an exceptional personality with so many high inexpressible qualities.
Sylvie Vartan has traveled around the world since she was at 19 years old. Her every concert including Live in Japan 2018 makes a great impact on me; such a wonderful experience that I wouldn't trade that joy for all the world. 4 years have passed in the blink of an eye. I want to see Sylvie with my own eyes again.

Sylvie Vartan per a French photograher Gerard Houin in his prime 1970s.He captures most beautiful moments whether or not Sylvie moves; we feel the wind and those are a bit different from others, I think. Even today (2021 for exemple) , his pictures of Sylvie on stage are simply fresh and stimulating in the same way. A fantastic photographer.

Sylvie Vartan Salle Pleyel 2021 (special concert on 13 November 2021) was broadcased on TV in France. SYLVIE VARTAN LE RECITAL 2021, acoustic live Sylvie performed with only four exclusive musicians (pianist, cellist, guitalist, chorus).
Newspaper LE MONDEA distributed review of the premiere of SYLVIE VARTAN LIVE 2021 at Theatre Edouard-VII in Oct. (before the Salle Pleyel) : Au Theatre Edouard-VII, l'hymne a l'amour de Sylvie Vartan - La chanteuse presente a Paris Le Recital, spectacle qui accompagne la sortie de son album Merci pour le regard.
PAINTING OF NINA CHILDRESS
Sylvie Vartan per Nina Childress covers ART PRESS, French international monthly comtemporary art magazine (written both in French/English), No.495/January 2022 (published on 22 December 2021).This large painting is one of Nina Childress' many works (painting, print, sculpture) of which motif is Sylvie Vartan, who deeply impressed and influenced the painter in one way or another in her early teens. At that time, Sylvie Vartan had recovered from injuries in two car accidents (1968/1970). Her latest sculpute is a bust of Sylvie Vartan in early 1970s. The American-born artist has an unique style and there is even something weird about some of those pieces. It feels sensitive, violent, dynamic, a bit funny and all. It's not traditional but rather conceptual.
Nina Childress teaches at the Ecole nationale superieure des Beaux-Arts since 2019.

Sylvie Vartan chante pour Ukraine (Sylvie Vartan sings for Ukraine), 5-songs EP album that includes her three original autobiographical numbers and Nicolas (recording of 2015 in Sofia with Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra) and Jonh Lennon's Imagine, which she sang for the 1st time in her 1st live in Sofia, Bulgaria in October 1990, Sylvie Vartan sings out of her early years, her childhood.Nicolas, her great success of 1979 is a cover of Hungarian song in French text reflecting her childhood in Sofia. Sylvie has powerful beautiful voice and never fails to move us ever since 1979 whenever and however she sings it. An absolutely formidable number she performs in recording or live. It generates a sense of unity between Sylvie and audiences in every live.
This mini-album especially resonates in the heart in the midst of war, the Russian extreme barbarity of invasion and extermination of Ukraine.
Sylvie Vartan acts urgently and provices humanitarian aid through music. Her top musicians volunteered to participate in this recording in Paris in April 2022.
Incidentally, she runs NPO Association Sylvie Vartan pour La Bulgarie, which she started with her brother/composer Eddie Vartan (1937-2001) in December 1990, mainly supporting unfortunate children in her homeland, where she spent her first 7 years or so before her family legally immigrated to France in 1952.

A brilliant fresh team of songwriters and composers participated including Clara Luciani, La Grande Sophie, Leonard Lasry, Joseph D'Anvers, Clarika among others. Needless to say about the musiciens. At a glance, each of 14 titles (1. Le Bleu de la Mer Noire through to Tout reste a dire.) stealed my heart. Authentic Vartan.
Amazing Sylvie Vartan leads a life of constant creativity, having a spirit of adventure, staying at the same time hungry and serene. A double celebration! The 60th anniversary of stage career and the remarkable 50th original album. Vartan is blessed.
Impressive opening number LE BLEU DE LA MER NOIRE and DU COTE DE MA PEINE. Clala Luciani's modern piece A DEUX PAS DE VOUS, a ray of sunshine of the album that best suits Vartan's voice. Finally, striking MERCI POUR LE REGARD and gracefully dynamic 1st single LES VENTS CONTRAIRES let fantastic fresh air in.
Otherwise, the album photos do not always have to be such close-up simple portrait, I think. Sylvie Vartan is a beautiful person but it's not only her visage. The one on the right in the 2nd row (yellow/Sylvie in orange jacket) looks especially special and fascinating since the album was initially released in Japan with the title YOUR IDOL to commemorate Sylvie Vartan's phenomenal 1st Japan concert tour in May 1965. Sylvie Vartan at the same time girly and boyish.This fantastic celebratory event continues with releases of other albums in September and then in 2022 in France.
REEDITION OF ALBUMS OF 1990S/2000S - 60TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION !
Reedition on vinyl (double album) starts with this beautiful recording of Sylvie Vartan (1993/1994).
The album of 1995 titled SYLVIE VARTAN is the 2nd edition of SESSION ACOUSTIQUES (quality self-cover album of 1994). It was issued with a longer track listing (three additions: La Vie d'Artiste/cover of Leo Ferre and two original new songs) and this different monochrome photo in early 1995 just before her Live at Casino de Paris, her successful 1st acoustic concert, which poster was the same as this chic album jacket.One of the sweetest and spontaneous recordings of Sylvie Vartan. Sylvie Vartan for music fans beyond generations, I believe.

Album SYLVIE released in 2004, the year of Sylvie Vartan with other fabulous projects such as Live at Palais des Congres de Paris with new Italien musiciens, issue of the best seller autobiography Entre L'ombre et La Lumiere, a grand long exhibition Sylvie Vartan Revue De Mode at Palais Galliera (16 Oct 2004 to 27 Feb 2005) among others.The vinyl LP comes out on 30 July 2021 in France.

French popular music in Japan
- small info (update: 29 Dec 2022 / photo left taken early Nov in Shinjuku Tower Records) :
It's just what I see in Tokyo when drop by the only large record store Tower Records * (in Shinjuku store (9/10th floor of the build. next to the south exit of Shinjuku station.)/Shibuya 8-story build. main store).
In October 2021, Shinjuku store was renewed and sales floor was decreased to 2 floors (from 4) with relocation of their special floor called TOWER VINYL selling/exhibiting a large selection of new/used vinyls to the Shibuya 8-story store building (on the 6th F.)
In Feb 2022, they had only around 30 CDs in total (!) including the usual very limited French established singers' pieces (one copy of each CD) such as: Serge Gainsbourg, Jane Birkin, Sylvie Vartan (longseller compils of 2002/2009, Sylvie In Nashville, her latest Japanese version released in 2014), Zaz, Francoise Hardy, Frence Gall, Michel Polenareff, several great artists of French traditional "chanson" compilations in both stores.
In Nov/end Dec, Shinjuku store has just a handful of CD in the French section including one Sylvie In Nashville and It's no longer a showcase.
A small segment of people enjoying other French talented artists through Internet must exist, though.
Last phenomenal success of French Pop was so far away but it was revival of Irresistiblement in 2002. (Vartan's original recording in 1968/late-1970 to early-1971 hit in Japan.) Adolescents in 2002 will be now in their 30s.
The 1970s were a good time when radio played European (French/Italian) popular music as well in programs (at night/midnight) young people participated in and listened to a lot.
