First, French journal Le Parisien - electro edition of 21/02/2021 announcing Sylvie Vartan 50th studio album before the recital - made me practically jumped for joy. Live in Paris and tour 2021. Her 1st recital at Theatre Edouard VII, a perfect space for this creative acoustic live, Sylvie is with only four exclusive musicians (pianist, cellist, guitalist, chorus). Then, at Salle Pleyel. With a remarkable new album, that creates a feeling of even stronger expectations for the events, performance of Sylvie Vartan, who has contrasting qualities, whose aspiration was to become a theater/film actor.
Higher expectations on her every concert. Sylvie Vartan in a gorgeous long dress (Hedi Slimane), in this memorable stage and celebration of her 60th active career, conveys an image of the good old days' French traditional "chanson" singers for me.
Actually, brilliant accomplished live performer Sylvie Vartan is personally a rough synonym for Le Smoking tuxedo suit, breathtaking Le Style Vartan. I had wished to see her dressed in that way in a recital with a minimalist decor or whatever, and wish it throughout her exceptional career that contines.
Sylvie Vartan, who is originative, is varied in personality and gifts and not to be categorized into one certain type. Her earlier grand spectacles also had an apect of recital with soulful singing and all. That must remaine deep inside of many people and is always around Sylvie Vartan, who has the perfect beautiful posture and graceful voice. It's not a regular singing kind of literal, manipulated, controled, finess. It's delicate still rough aruond the edge and dynamic, which is a great part of the values she has and something irresistible from the beginning.
Never easy to describe her performance in one single phrase. Obviously Sylvie Vartan has that distinctively wild still graceful warm husky voice and characteristic SPIRITED elegant move. Sylvie Vartan I witnessed with my own eyes in concert live in Tokyo (2018 included) was always far far more marvelous in every respect, different from what we see on the Internet, TV, etc.

MERCI POUR LE REGARD - THE 50TH STUDIO RECORDING ORIGINAL ALBUM
Chouette! A long-awaited impressive new album of Sylvie Vartan comes out on 1 October 2021, just before her most anticipated recital in Paris.
The 50th original work she recorded in a Paris studio in March/June 2021, for the first time in eight years since Sylvie In Nashville (2013/US recording). Timely top project to accentuate her highly active long career. A brilliant fresh team of songwriters and composers participated including a novel young star Clara Luciani, La Grande Sophie, Leonard Lasry, Joseph D'Anvers, Clarika among others. Needless to say about the musiciens. At a glance, each of 14 titles (1. Le Bleu de la Mer Noire through to 13. Ma tendre enfance 14. Tout reste a dire.) steals my heart. Authentic Vartan.
Amazing Sylvie Vartan leads a life of constant creativity, having a spirit of adventure, staying at the same time hungry and serene. A double celebration! The 60th anniversary of stage career and the remarkable 50th original album. Vartan is blessed.
Impressive opening number LE BLEU DE LA MER NOIRE and DU COTE DE MA PEINE. Clala Luciani's modern piece A DEUX PAS DE VOUS, a ray of sunshine of the album that best suits Vartan's voice. Finally, striking MERCI POUR LE REGARD and gracefully dynamic 1st single LES VENTS CONTRAIRES let fantastic fresh air in.

Most punctual publication of the first official biography of Sylvie Vartan, who celebrates her 60th anniversary of stage career in 2021. Writing after Sylvie Vartan's two autobiographies (in 2004/bestseller, 2016), it must be worth having and reading this thick French book (with efforts in my case) for fans of formidable Sylvie Vartan.

The one on the right in the 2nd row (yellow/Sylvie in orange jacket) looks especially special and fascinating since the album was initially released in Japan with the title YOUR IDOL to commemorate Sylvie Vartan's phenomenal 1st Japan concert tour in May 1965. Sylvie Vartan at the same time girly and boyish.This celebratory event continues with releases of other albums of her RCA years in September and next year 2022 in France.
REEDITION OF ALBUMS OF 1990S/2000S - 60TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION !
Reedition on vinyl (double album) starts with this beautiful recording of Sylvie Vartan (1993/1994).
The album of 1995 titled SYLVIE VARTAN is the 2nd edition of SESSION ACOUSTIQUES (quality self-cover album of 1994). It was issued with a longer track listing (three additions: La Vie d'Artiste/cover of Leo Ferre and two original new songs) and this different monochrome photo in early 1995 just before her Live at Casino de Paris, her successful 1st acoustic concert, which poster was the same as this chic album jacket.One of the sweetest and spontaneous recordings of Sylvie Vartan. Sylvie Vartan for music fans beyond generations, I believe.

Album SYLVIE released in 2004, the year of Sylvie Vartan with other fabulous projects such as Live at Palais des Congres de Paris with new Italien musiciens, issue of the best seller autobiography Entre L'ombre et La Lumiere, a grand long exhibition Sylvie Vartan Revue De Mode at Palais Galliera (16 Oct 2004 to 27 Feb 2005) among others.The vinyl LP comes out on 30 July 2021 in France.

Dans ce metier, seule la mort met un terme a l'activite. Tant que je le pourrai, tant que je penserai que je peux apporter quelque chose, je monterai sur scene. C'est genial, non? (In this profession, only the death puts an end to the activity. As long as I can do it, as long as I think I can bring something, I will go on stage. That's great, isn't it?)

Sylvie Vartan and Tony Scotti showed up at the 47th Deauville American Film Festival on Saturday 11 September 2021. They are dressed elegantly in black and white with cool and chic shose respectively. A dazzling couple, over four (4) decades since they fist met in Tokyo in March 1981. Les choses humaines is the film they saw and Sylvie recommands on Sylvie Vartan Official Instagram.

Sylvie Vartan on RTL French radio spoke of her official biography, new album in September (recorded in Paris in March-June 2021), new concerts at Theatre Edouard VII and Salle Pleyel and tour in Europe in Oct and Nov 2021.
Authentic Sylvie Vartan in a chic striped suit and a white high collar blouse, a characteristic feature of Vartan since her 20s. She has always perfect beautiful posture and is elegant, graceful as a whole. Her special husky voice as well.

FRENCH MAGAZINE GALA FEATURING THE TWO FOR THE MOTHER'S DAY ISSUE IN FRANCE.
Especially striking photo (per Philippe Quaisse) of Sylvie Vartan and her unique daughter Darina, whose growth and development since her babyhood is more or less known to many fans of Sylvie Vartan.In fact, Sylvie often speaks of Darina in interviews (with Japanese press and TV included) describing Drina as : Elle est mon amour, mon soleil. The photo captured the best moment of Sylvie Vartan being with her grown-up daughter. The two in peace.
FOR LAST HOMAGE TO PIERRE CARDIN.
Sylvie Vartan and Tony Scotti attended the mass in memory of Pierre Cardin, who passed away just one month ago, held at Eglise de la Madeleine.
They well wear a face mask (under the circumstances of the coronavirus pandemic).
Sylvie and Tony, always a beautiful couple for four decades (1981 - 2021), ever since they encountered in March 1981 in Tokyo. They married in June 1984 in California.

French popular music in Japan/small info (update: 7 November 2021) : It's just what I see in Tokyo when drop by the only large record store Tower Records * (in Shinjuku store (9/10th F.)/Shibuya 8-story building store). French music is very quietly placed in the World Music display racks in both stores where general Brazilian/Latin music dominate. Usually very limited established singers' pieces (one copy of each CD) are there such as: Serge Gainsbourg, Jane Birkin, Sylvie Vartan (longseller compils of 2002/2009, Sylvie In Nashville in Japanese version 2014), Zaz, Francoise Hardy, Michel Polenareff, France Gall, several great artists of French traditional "chanson" and "chanson" compilations. In last Feb, we could still sample Birkin's latest French CD, her usual whisper. Now, at last, several Zaz's latest CD are on view (Japanese version).
Otherwise, Shinjuku store was renewed early Oct 2021 and sales floor is decreased to 2 floors (from 4), and even fewer French CDs of forementioned artists, the same as Shibuya store. Shinjuku store's thrilling special floor called TOWER VINYL selling/exhibiting a large selection of new/used vinyls is relocated to Shibuya store building in Sept, still Shinjuku has less vinyls in one corner of the floor.
Still, wishing the release of Sylvie Vartan's latest original album in Japanese version soon. (I downloaded its digital version on the release day (1st Oct) since it is the only format available, but nothing like album CD.
(Last phenomenal success of French Pop was a revival of Irresistiblement (Vartan's late-1970 hit in Japan) in 2002, for the 1st time since late-1970s or so as far as I know. Adolescents at that time will be now in their 30s. Today, a small segment of people enjoying other French talented artists through Internet must exist, though.
